Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024He entered the National Theatre School of Denmark at the age of 27. He graduated in 1995. Apart from his appearance in The Killing's drama series, he also appeared in Borgen III, a Danish drama series. He was also a key role in the BBC drama Sherlock as a blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. He played Russia's president on the American television show House of Cards. He won an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his role in Danish TV drama Herrens Veje, which was shown in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride upon the Storm.In addition to his mother tongue Danish, Mikkelsen speaks fluent Swedish, German and English and has learned diverse accents. According to Mikkelsen's story that he learned English from his brother by listening to Monty Python recordings and watching the comedy sketches.
